Sailing Membership

Many people envisage sailing as being an expensive hobby; and it can be in much larger boats and clubs. The GAC Sailing club however, has an ethos of sailing for all, and we keep membership and race fees very low. 

 

Volunteering

Many of our members don't sail. Instead, they enjoy doing other things at the club such as volunteering on the water on the safety boats or race management, or on shore recording race results or helping in the canteen. The volunteer membership category is significantly reduced as it does not include membership of Australian Sailing or sailing participation at events, but it does include access to Goolwa Aquatic Club’s social events.

All sailors are also encouraged to help out and volunteer their time to the many jobs that keep the club running, whether that’s helping organise and coach juniors, keeping the club’s sail and motor boats in good shape, organising or helping at regattas or writing funding applications and updating the website or Facebook page. There’s a job for everyone! The club has no paid staff. Volunteering also helps keep the club together, building new friendships between members from all walks of life.

Membership Options (2023-2024 Season)

We have three sailing membership options – Adult, Junior or Family. All our sailing categories enjoy the same benefits. Membership allows the use of the club’s facilities and includes Australian Sailing membership with Personal Accident Insurance and membership of the Goolwa Aquatic Club.

Junior members are required to have a parent or guardian also join the club - refer details on the Membership Form (link below).

​

Our membership year starts on 1 September. For new members joining after April, reduced fees are applicable, as shown on the updated membership form.

How to join or renew your membership

Our 2023-24 membership form is available here, as a PDF which can be completed electronically (don't forget to save your completed form) and emailed; or printed and scanned and emailed, mailed or handed to the Secretary or Treasurer personally. If emailing, please send to GAC.Sailing@gmail.com. Payment can be either via EFT as per the details on the form (preferred option), or by cheque or cash payment to the Treasurer. Keeping in contact

The GAC Sailing Facebook page is a great resource for sharing news, event pics and last-minute schedule updates. Like or follow the page to see the posts on your feed. We also use email, phone and website to communicate with members, please make sure your contact details are up to date.
